12 Critical Components of a Website That Converts Visitors Into Loyal Customers
1. Eye-Catching Photos.
Colorful, high-quality images keep your website visitors on your site longer. The longer they’re on your website, the better your chances of converting them into a loyal customer. Photos allow your website visitors to see what your brand is all about in a way that text can’t. Whether you use your own photos, or purchase stock photos for your site, make sure that your website has a visual appeal.
2. Social Media icons above the fold.
As soon as I arrive to your website, I should see your social media links (without having to scroll). Remember, most every person that visits your website is active on at least one social media platform. If you’re active on social media too (which you should be), give them the opportunity to connect with you on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. When your customers are connected with your brand through social media, it gives you a chance to build a personal relationship with them, and build trust over time.
3. Social Media share buttons.
You want to get the most out of your website visitors, and make it easy for them to stay connected with you, AND share your brand with their friends. Add social media share buttons to your site so they can easily Tweet a page on your website, Facebook like or share it, or post it on Linkedin or Google+. You will turn one website visitor into many!
4. A descriptive and memorable tagline.
I love a good tagline! One of my favorites is Walgreens’ tagline, “At the corner of happy & healthy”. What is your brand’s tagline? Do you have one? Is it prominently placed on your website? Be sure to have a powerful tagline that captures the value your brand offers, and place it at a prominent place on your website.
5. A Facebook Like box.
New visitors to your website may come from any number of places. Make it easy for them to become one of your Facebook fans, by adding a “Like” box, right on your website! If they like what they see on your website, they’ll definitely want to stay connected with your brand on Facebook, so make it easy to do so.
6. Videos.
Showing your brand’s value through video is always better than text alone. If you have high-quality videos that highlight what your brand has to offer, they should be on your website. Showcase a video or two on your home page, then provide a link to a page on your website where your web visitors can watch more of your videos.
7. Testimonials.
There’s nothing more powerful than rave reviews and recommendations from your clients and customers. Whether you have text testimonials with photos, or video testimonials, they should be showcased on your website for your visitors to see within the first 30 seconds of arriving to your website.
8. A Blog.
Show your clients and potential customers why you’re the go to expert in your field. Regularly publish blog posts through your website that educate, empower, and inspire your target market in a unique and innovative way. Blogging is one of the best ways to highlight your authority in your specific niche.
9. An email subscription box with a free incentive.
There is power in your list! No matter what your other marketing efforts are on social media, or anywhere else, building your e-mail subscriber list is one of the most important strategies you can use. Put your e-mail sign-up box on your website’s home page and/or in the sidebar, with a valuable, free incentive for joining your list, and begin the journey of building a list of loyal customers.
10. Google Analytics.
The knowledge of where your website visitors are coming from, how long they’re staying on each page of your website, and more detailed analytics can be crucial to your marketing strategy. It can help you see where you need to make improvements to your site, to encourage your visitors to stay longer, and motivate them to take the next step. Make sure you’re using this free and powerful tool for your website.
11. The WordPress.org platform.
Free websites don’t represent your brand in the best and most professional way possible. The WordPress platform has become the standard, and the most popular and user-friendly platform for you to build your brand’s website on. If you’re still using flash, or a basic html based website, it’s time for an upgrade.
12. A detailed & personal About page.
Share your brand’s story in a way that connects with people on a human level. Share your background, and what inspired you to start on your current journey in your career, or business. Share your mission and the values that guide how you interact with your customers, students, or clients.
